SYRACUSE – William F. “Bill” Charlton, 81, North Webster, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 7, 2015, at his home. He was born July 3, 1934, in Millersburg, to Gerald W. and Agatha Mae Orn Charlton. On Nov. 27, 1954, in Larwill, he married Marlene D. Rush, who preceded him in death in 1995. On Oct. 12, 1996, in Syracuse, he married Alice M. Stump Moerchen, who survives in North Webster. He graduated in 1952 from Milford High School, attended International Business College in Fort Wayne and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from United Tech in Columbia City after 20+ years and formerly worked at Weatherhead/Dana Corporation in Syracuse for 24 years. He lived most of his life in the Milford, North Webster, Syracuse areas except two years in Chicago. He was a member of the Church of God, North Webster; Lakeland Kiwanis, North Webster; and formerly attended the Church of Nazarene, Syracuse. Also surviving are his daughter, Deanna (and spouse Todd) Koble, Syracuse; two sons, Douglas (and spouse Rita) Charlton, Tucson, Ariz., and Steve (and spouse Shelia) Charlton, Syracuse; four stepdaughters: Stephanie (and spouse Brian) Scott, Warsaw; Sara (and spouse Kermit) Kropf, Syracuse; Leah Glassburn, Fort Wayne; Amanda (and spouse Nathan) Swanson, Park City, Utah; three stepsons: Greg (and spouse Missy) Moerchen, Fort Wayne; Todd (and spouse Lisa) Moerchen, Oldsmar, Fla.; Jeffrey Moerchen, New York City, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Geraldine Chupp and Dorothy Elliott; and a brother, Warren Charlton. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
