William “Bill” Leroy Baumgardner, 97, Warsaw, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, in the care of Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw.
He was born March 7, 1928, in Warsaw, to Nina P. Riggins Baumgardner Atkins and Marshall Francis Baumgardner. Bill was married on July 4, 1947, to Peggy Shane Huggins; she died Nov. 29, 2011.
Bill served during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of seaman first class.
Bill’s life will be celebrated with a service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and officiated by Envoy Ken Locke. Family and friends may visit prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites conducted by members of the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 and active-duty members of the Navy Honor Guard.
