MILFORD — William “Bill” C. Helms, 68, Larwill, passed away at home Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017.
He was born Oct. 15, 1948, the son of Elbert and Betty Huftine Helms in South Bend. Bill married Linda Simcox in 1970. They were married 33 years and had two sons, Gabriel Helms and Gage Robert Helms, both of Larwill.
He is also survived by three nephews – Robert Vermillion, Oswego; Matthew Vermillion, North Webster; and Michael Simcox, Fort Wayne – whom he loved and cared for like sons; one sister, Connie Helms White, and a brother-in-law, Larry, both of South Bend; and two brothers, Leon Helms, Arkansas, and Danny Sedam, South Bend.
Bill served our country honorably in the United States Navy during Vietnam and retired from Zimmer after 30 years of dedicated service.
He was a sports enthusiast, avid card player and fisherman. In years past, Bill loved hunting coons with his beloved coon dogs.
A celebration of Bill’s life will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Warsaw American Legion Post 49, 301 N. Buffalo St., Warsaw.
A cremation committal has taken place with Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
