Editor, Times-Union:
As both an educator and a member of this community, I see every day how local leadership decisions directly affect the lives of our students and families. That is why I am writing to express my support for Donald Wiesehan Jr. for Southern District Commissioner.
Strong communities are built on safe neighborhoods, responsible planning, and leaders who understand the importance of investing in the future. In education, we talk often about preparing students not just for today, but for what lies ahead. That same mindset is essential in county leadership. Donald Wiesehan Jr.’s background in public service reflects a commitment to safety, accountability, and thoughtful decision-making — values that matter deeply to those of us working with young people.
Our students benefit when their communities are stable, well-maintained, and forward-thinking. From infrastructure and public safety to responsible use of taxpayer dollars, the decisions made at the county level shape the environment in which our children grow and learn. I believe Donald Wiesehan Jr. understands these connections and is prepared to lead with both practicality and long-term vision.
As someone who works closely with families, I value leaders who listen, communicate clearly, and remain accessible to the people they serve. Donald Wiesehan Jr. has demonstrated those qualities, and I am confident he will represent our community with integrity.
I encourage fellow residents to stay informed and to consider supporting Donald Wiesehan Jr. for Southern District Commissioner.
