I am a mother. Yes, I am many other things, but most precious to me are my children. Now, in addition, I have beloved grandchildren to share my world with. When my children were small, I put locks on the cabinets and covers on the electrical outlets. I talked with their friends when they were teenagers so that I knew who they were involved with. Now that they're grown, I counsel them when they're having adult dilemmas over money, jobs or their own families. I, like you, love my family.
I believe that who we vote for affects the world we share with our families. It affects our children's ability to obtain the "American dream" - whatever that dream may be - a job, a home, a college degree.
As I was reading the online newspapers this morning, I happened on an article about Hillary Clinton's recent speech in Elyria, Ohio, to a crowd of approximately 1,000 or so supporters. These are her words: "This election is going to be a game changer," she told the crowd. "We have the opportunity to go beyond the failed policies of the last eight years. I hear a lot of talk about this election, people asking, who are you for? That's not the right question. The right question is 'who is for you?'"

Those last words, that last question - that's what it's about. The war of the words that is going on right now in politics is changing our focus from the issues to the most recent he said, she said. Look at the issues. Investigate them. Who is for you in the areas of: less taxes for the poor and more for the higher incomes; preservation of our environment; opportunities for small business not larger gifts to large corporations; better global relations; and continuing respect for women's rights? I think you know. It's the Obama/Biden ticket. Look at their pasts, learn about their voting records, listen to their plans. You'll see. They're for your family.
