Whitko Welding and Precision Machining Students Tour Red Star In LarwillLARWILL - Recently, students in Whitko Career Academy's welding and precision machining programs were given the opportunity to take facility tours of Red Star Contract Manufacturing in Larwill.
The tours were coordinated by the WCA and molding supervisor Katee Feesby. The tours began with a welcome and presentation of the types of products produced by Red Star Contract Manufacturing from General Manager Kevin Bell, according to a press release from WCA.
After transitioning to the manufacturing floor, Feesby led a group of students to the sterilization and packaging area to become suited up for their tour. Matt Slusher, metal supervisor, took another group to the CNC machining department and presented current trends in the industry. Zach Baughman, engineering manager, guided a third group through the tool and die process and injection molding processes at the facility.
The tour concluded in the main foyer with a question-and-answer session that spurred discussion over the importance of employability and interviewing skills.
