WCS Recommends Ziegler As New WCHS Band DirectorWarsaw Community Schools announced the recommendation of Mark Ziegler to fulfill the role of Warsaw Community High School band director.

Ziegler will be recommended to the WCS Board of School Trustees during the July regular board meeting.

Ziegler is no stranger to Kosciusko County and the surrounding area. Born in Warsaw, raised in Whitley County and a graduate of Columbia City High School, he is happy to return home, according to a news release from WCS.

After high school, Ziegler began to follow his passion for instrumental music by marching with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 1992. This experience led him to pursue a career in music education.

Upon graduating from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in church music, Ziegler obtained his music education degree through Indiana/Purdue at Fort Wayne in 1999.

His career in music began as a teacher at Calvary Christian School in Kentucky, where he built up an instrumental program recognized by the Kentucky Music Educators Association.

Ziegler returned to Indiana as the band director for Clay City High School in Clay City. During his 12 years at CCHS, Ziegler’s accomplishments included 11 semi-state and three state finals appearances in ISSMA marching band, multiple gold ratings at ISSMA concert band festivals, repeatedly qualifying at the state finals level with Indiana Percussion Association and a Divisional Regional A state finals IHSCGA championship in winter guard.

Along with teaching, Ziegler has worked as a percussion instructor, written marching band drills, composed and adapted music scores and adjudicated solo and ensemble participants. The news release stated he is eager to share his knowledge and experience with the instrumental music students at WCHS.

In the coming weeks, he, his wife Becky and their three children, Emily, Anna and Nathan, will be moving into the Warsaw community and look forward to engaging with families and students throughout the coming school year.
