WCHS Cheerleaders

My wife and I have been to almost all games (home and away) at Warsaw High School since 1992 and wonder what is up with the Warsaw cheerleaders. Are they perhaps the worst and weakest varsity cheerleading program in the conference? We believe so.

We observe the cheerleaders stand on the sidelines, chit-chat with each other, never lead the crowd, poke fun at people, dance and make gestures that are inappropriate, etc. They look absolutely miserable out there. What coach would not observe this behavior and bring control within these girls? Wake up, coach, and show some direction with the girls. We could care less about watching the "bigger" girls flip around. We want to see them cheering and leading the crowd. Actually, it is not pretty to see some of those girls' bellies and undergarments show. What happened to all of the high school squads dancing to fight songs, etc.? Where have the Warsaw traditions gone these past couple of years?

Since the new school opened it was always fun to see the gym and football field covered with cheerleaders at all levels. It was exciting. You are stripping your fans of the fun as well. It is clear there is no leadership out there. Your goal is to prepare the younger girls for a higher position. Personally, we feel that the younger squads performing before them are more fun to watch and seem to have more variety and "lady-like" in their program. Great job, junior varsity coach, you should apply for head coach next year. For the size and money that Warsaw schools have, the girls should be lively and fun to watch and bring the crowd to their feet.

Fans, since Warsaw cheerleading is boring, let's make some noise.
