Wawasee Early Learning Advances To High QualityWawasee Community Schools opened their first two childcare and early learning programs in fall 2021. Since then, Wawasee Early Learning Centers (WELC) have added an additional five classrooms for children ages birth to 5.
In early August, WELC received a Level 3 on the Paths to Quality (PTQ), Indiana’s Child Care Quality and Improvement System. Each level builds on the foundation of the previous one, resulting in significant quality improvements at each stage, according to a news release from LaunchPad. The four levels address:
• Level One: Health and safety needs of children met
• Level Three: Planned curriculum guides child development and school readiness
• Level Four: National accreditation (the highest indicator of quality) is achieved
Sherry Searles, director of LaunchPad, said, “The leadership and early childhood educators at WELC have worked hard to create a healthy, safe and high-quality environment for the children in their programs. They have implemented a research-based curriculum, called HighScope, to guide the children’s development and prepare them for school. We are thrilled that they choose to utilize Paths to Quality and are proud of all they have accomplished.”
