INDIANAPOLIS – Warsaw’s Delaney Wihebrink advanced to today’s IHSAA swim state finals at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Wihebrink, a senior, placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in Friday’s preliminaries.
She broke her own school record in the event with a time of 1:03.45, and will compete in the 100 breaststroke final today.
Manchester sophomore Halle Briner placed 19th in the 200 freestyle, breaking her own school record in 1:54.24. She also placed 25th in the 100 butterfly in 58.78.
Warsaw’s 200 medley relay team of Leah Reinholt, Wihebrink, Taylor Gunter and Olivia Herman placed 26th in 1:53.66.
The Lady Tigers’ 200 freestyle relay squad of Herman, Lillian Boston, Gunter and Wihebrink finished 29th in 1:43.02.
Gunter was 32nd in the 200 individual medley in 2:24.58.
Valley Routs North Miami
DENVER – Jalen Shepherd and Wes Melanson each scored 15 points to lead the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team to a 68-46 Three Rivers Conference win Friday at North Miami.
Valley led 15-11 after the first quarter before outscoring North Miami 20-13 in the second to take a double-digit lead into halftime.
The Vikings put away the game with a 23-point third quarter, and rode their substantial lead to victory in the fourth.
Melanson, a post player, was 3 of 5 from behind the three-point arc. Cameron Parker scored 13 points for the Vikings (11-7, 7-2 TRC).

WINONA LAKE – Jake Harmon scored 13 points to lead the Lakeland Christian boys basketball team to a 59-49 home win Friday over South Bend Career Academy.
The Cougars led 14-11 after the first quarter and 25-19 at halftime.
Their lead was cut to four by the end of the third quarter, but they pulled off a 20-point fourth quarter for the double-digit win.
Cameron Shepherd scored 12 points for Lakeland Christian (7-11), while DeAndre Coleman led Career Academy with a game-high 26 points.
The Cougars will host Community Baptist Tuesday.

GOSHEN – The Wawasee boys basketball team was outlasted in a 42-41 double overtime Northern Lakes Conference loss Friday at Goshen.
The game was tied at 29 at the end of regulation and 34 at the end of the first overtime before Goshen edged Wawasee 8-7 in the second overtime for the victory.
Austin Miller led the Warriors (5-13, 0-7 NLC) with 14 points, while Bennett Hoffert scored 12 points.
Bryant Robinson scored a game-high 19 points for Goshen (7-10, 1-5 NLC).
Jeremy Ryman scored 11 points to lead the Warsaw freshman boys basketball to a 51-26 home rout of Elkhart Memorial Thursday in the first round of the Freshmen Northern Lakes Conference Tournament.
Hunter Rice, Judah Simfukwe and Kyle Dawson each scored eight points for Warsaw (16-1).
The Tigers will play today at Wawasee in an NLC Tournament semifinal.
