Warsaw Splits Difference At NLC/DAC Tournament

MIDDLEBURY – The Warsaw girls basketball team won one game and lost another Saturday at the Duneland/NLC Shootout at Northridge High School.

Warsaw lost 52-39 to Crown Point in the first game.

The Lady Tigers started the game down 11-0 before battling back for a 26-22 halftime lead.

Warsaw scored just three points in the third quarter, and was outscored 20-10 in the fourth for the double-digit loss. 

Maddie Ryman scored 16 points, while Kacilyn Krebs added 10 points in the first game.

Warsaw lost 36-35 in the JV game. Bailie?Stephens and Abby Taylor scored seven points each for the?Lady?Tigers.

Warsaw bounced back with a 47-28 win over Merrillville.

The Lady Tigers limited Merrillville to just two points in the second quarter and one point in the fourth quarter. 

Kaylee Patton scored a game-high 14 points, while Abby Sanner had 10 points and six rebounds for Lady Tigers (3-3).

The Lady?Tigers won 46-21 in the JV game. Adin Um and Abby?Sanner each scored 12 points for?Warsaw.

Warsaw will play Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Penn.

Triton Whoops?Wawasee

BOURBON – Lexia Howstrawser had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Triton girls basketball team to a 41-15 home win Saturday over?Wawasee.

The win was the first of the season for the Lady Trojans. 

Wawasee (2-4) held a 7-5 lead after the first quarter, but Triton (1-5) allowed the?Lady Warriors just eight points in the final three quarters to seal the victory. 

Maddison Mottern and Danielle Jenkins scored three points each for Wawasee.

Wawasee won 24-18 in the JV game.

Ella Beezley led the Lady Warriors with seven points, while Becca Smith had six points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Taren Yates had nine points for the Lady?Trojans.

Wawasee will host West Noble Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Triton will host NorthWood Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Reimink Leads Charge For LCA

WINONA LAKE – Anna Reimink had 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead the Lakeland Christian girls basketball team to a 37-35 win Saturday at Elkhart Christian.

The Lady Cougars (3-2) trailed at the end of the first, second, and third quarters.

They managed a 14-point fourth quarter to edge the Lady Eagles (1-2) in the two-point victory.

Tori Calizo scored 11 points for Lakeland Christian, while Jessi Calizo added seven.

The Lady Cougars will host North Miami Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.



Whitko’s Snep Posts Double-Double In?Win

SOUTH WHITLEY – Ellie Snep scored 17 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead the?Whitko girls basketball team to a 56-36 home win Saturday against Madison-Grant.

“We are becoming a better basketball team each day, but what I?really admire about our team is their heart and soul,” said Whitko coach Rick Bragg.

The Lady Wildcats led 13-10 after the first quarter before breaking open the game with a 17-6 second quarter.

Emalee Duggins scored 16 points, while Kayla Schipper and Gus Garr each had six points for the Lady Wildcats (3-4). 

“It is no secret our offense revolves around Ellie and Emalee,” Bragg said. “But where we are really growing and improving is the offensive production of our other players.”

Madison-Grant dropped to 1-4. Whitko will play Saturday at noon against Bremen in the?Tippecanoe?Valley Tournament.

Manchester Falls 

To?Winamac

WINAMAC – Kennedy?Fierstos scored 15 points, but the Manchester girls basketball team lost 47-35 Saturday at Winamac.

Manchester (3-3) fell behind by 10 points at the end of the first quarter, and was never able to make up the difference in the rest of the game.

Keira Hatfield had eight points and five rebounds, while Eva Bazzoni added six points and Kennidy Lauer pulled down five boards for the Lady Squires.

“I was impressed with the fight within our girls tonight,” said?Manchester girls basketball coach Jacob Everett. “Our ability to pull together and support each other is why I love coaching these young ladies. We are always improving each and every day.”

Manchester lost 41-38 in the JV game.

Keilean Creager led Manchester with nine points and seven steals, while Ainsley West had eight points and five rebounds. 



Wawasee Sweeps?Competition At Warsaw Invitational

The Wawasee wrestling team went 5-0 at Saturday’s Warsaw Invitational.

Wawasee won 79-0 over South Bend St. Joseph, 69-9 over Calumet, 68-9 over Rossville, 79-0 over?Fort Wayne Wayne, and 84-0 over Illiana Christian. 

Warsaw was 4-1 at the invite. The Tigers won 58-15 over Wayne, 72-12 over Illiana Christian, 72-6  over St. Joseph and 58-18 over Elkhart Memorial.

The Tigers’ lone loss was 42-40 to Calumet. 

Wawasee had 11 of its 14 wrestlers go undefeated. 

Dylan Tom (106 pounds), Landon Dilley (113), Jason Alexander (120), Brenden Dilley (126), Geremia Brooks (132),?Braxton Alexander (138), Garrett Stuckman (145), Fernando?Hernandez (170), Alex Castro (182), Raymon?Torres (195) and Hagaen Slusher (285) all went 5-0 on the day for the Warriors. 

Warsaw had five wrestlers go 5-0. Jose Martinez (113), Andrew Ross (120), Jacob Bass (145), Brandon Estepp (160) and Brock Hueber (182) all were perfect on the day. 

Elkhart Memorial was 4-1 on the day, while Rossville and Calumet went 3-2, Illiana was 1-4, Wayne was 0-5, and St. Joseph also was 0-5.
