Warsaw School Board Approves New Claypool Principal, Other Administrative Changes

Warsaw School Board approved several administrative changes Tuesday, including hiring a new principal at Claypool Elementary School.
Kristi Lucht has been named the new Claypool principal.
She is a Warsaw native and Warsaw Community High School graduate, said Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert.
Lucht began her teaching career at Lincoln Elementary and later served at Jefferson Elementary before stepping away to raise her four children - Lorelai, 14; Isaiah, 12; Jazette, 11; and Lukas, 10. She returned to education in Indianapolis as a teacher, assistant principal and data coordinator. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Grace College and a master’s in educational administration from Butler University, according to a news release from WCS.
Lucht and her family recently moved back to Warsaw.
Lucht said Tuesday her brother, Matt Brown, is a teacher at Gateway Education Center.
During Tuesday’s school board meeting, she said she is very happy to be back in the area and to serve the community. She is excited for everything she is beginning to learn about Claypool and how family- and community-oriented the town is.
“My staff doesn’t know it yet, but our theme this year is ‘Together We Learn, Together We Grow,’ and so I think that’s going to be a wonderful opportunity and theme for us this year as we grow together and we learn so much together as a staff and as a community,” she said.
In addition, Steven Boyer will begin serving as chief financial officer (CFO) for WCS while continuing in his current role as director of human resources. Boyer brings experience in public education and district leadership, having previously served as a teacher, principal, human resource director and CFO, according to the release.
Hoffert said WCS is excited to have Boyer in that role.
Boyer said his family migrated to the area in 2019 as Marshall County transplants and “this is and continues to be a very special place for us.” He said he and his wife “love the school corporation. We love serving here. We love our kids being a part of the educational community and we both plan to continue to serve here for a very long time.”
As part of the CFO role restructure, Danielle Raber, currently corporation treasurer, will transition to director of finance. Tracy Beiler will move from human resource generalist to human resource manager.
This restructuring allows WCS to reduce one administrative position, David Hoffert said during Tuesday’s meeting.
Boyer said he’s been able to work with both Raber and Beiler and “both ladies do a fantastic job.”
