A change order and claims were the only things on the Warsaw Redevelopment Commission’s agenda Tuesday.
Warsaw Community and Economic Development Director Jeremy Skinner presented the change order for the CR 300N improvement project, which is complete. He said the project was part of a few paving projects across the city as part of Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) funds the city received from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
The total contract with A & Z Engineering was about $724,000, Skinner said. A previous change order was for a negative $54,000. The change order Tuesday was for an increase of $59,802.21, making the total $729,325.86. Skinner said the total price increase was $11,895.
“As it stands now, what we’re presenting - keep in mind this is for a CCMG fund - so we’re presenting this to INDOT, is a final change order of roughly $5,101.26,” Skinner said. “We may have talked about this, but when we started out, we were going to chip and seal 300 North.”
During the process, it was learned paving 300N would only be $20,000-some more than chipping and sealing the road, so it was decided to just pave the road instead. There was some additional grading that was needed because of slopes, Skinner said, and a utility pole needed moved, which also were reflected in the change order. “The main reason for the increase is switching to the asphalt,” he stated.
Skinner said there were some cost savings throughout the project, which eliminated the only gravel road, or non-paved road, there was in the city limits.
The CR 300N project went from Silveus Crossing to CR 200W.
Board member Joe Thallemer made the motion to approve the change order, Secretary Bill Curl seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Claims presented, which the board also unanimously approved, included $4,166.90 to Barnes & Thornburg LLP for legal services regarding Marsh, Scooter’s and Autocam Medical; $2,100 to Anderson & Bohlander LLC for the first payment of the festival street design contract; $900 to Regions for annual fees associated with the Warsaw Commons bond; $8,037.44 to A & Z Engineering for engineering work for CR 200N and Husky Trail roundabout; and $232.03 to NIPSCO for a past Marsh bill.
