Warsaw Parks Department Announces Several Upcoming Events

Fishing derby, casting contest set Saturday
On Saturday, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will be kicking off the summer season with its free annual Kids Fishing Derby and Casting Contest.
For this event, the ages range from 3 to 16. Each age will be split up into categories (4 and under, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16).
In addition to the goodie bags for the first 30 kids, there will be some prizes for the first- and second-place winners in each age range, along with prizes for the first-, second- and third-place finisher in the casting contest. However, the grand prize will be given to the individual who reels in the largest fish of the day.
This event is catch and release only and participants must bring their own pole and bait, neither will be provided.

Touch-A-Truck planned Saturday
Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will hold Touch-A-Truck from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at Central Park.
This free community event gives the young, and young at heart, an opportunity to touch, explore and see their favorite trucks or equipment up close and personal.
Some of these trucks include a NASCAR truck series Truck and Hauler, an ambulance, wrecker, school bus, semi, fire truck, vac truck, tractor, racecar, garbage truck, cement truck and more.
It is supported by Warsaw Buick GMC and Kuert Concrete.

Paddle boarding offered Monday
The city of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department is offering free community paddle boarding and canoeing Monday from noon to 6 p.m. at Pike Lake Beach.
No registration is required. An annual waiver and rules sheet must be signed by each participant (must be signed by parent for anyone under age 18). Participants under the age of 16 must have a parent in the water with them.
Equipment is available for community use, is first-come, first served and may be used in timed increments. All equipment and life vests provided. All participants will be briefed on safety measures prior to using equipment. Staff will supervise all equipment use.
The next community canoeing/paddle boarding dates and time are: June 20, noon to 6 p.m.; July 11, noon to 6 p.m.; June 29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; July 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; July 1, noon to 6 p.m.

Central Park concert scheduled Friday
The city of Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will hold the Central Park Concert Series at the Central Park Plaza at 7 p.m. Friday.
According to a news releases from the department, “If you like country you won’t want to miss Kari Lynch Band.”
The band starts playing at 7 p.m. and will play until 8:30 p.m.
Bring your lawn chair or favorite blanket and enjoy this outdoor concert.
Sponsors include Indiana Arts Commission, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, 107.3 WRSW, Willie 103.5 and News Now Warsaw!.
