For the second time in 10 days, Warsaw Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at the Warsaw Market gas station, formerly Freedom Express, at 801 E. Center St.
At 5:31 a.m. today, Central Dispatch received a 911 call from the Warsaw Market manager reporting the store had just been robbed at gunpoint and the suspect had fled the area, according to a news release late this morning from the WPD.
The suspect was described as a male wearing a black coat, black gloves and a black hoodie.
The man brandished a large handgun or sawed-off shotgun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
As of this morning, it is unknown if this incident is related to a Jan. 2 robbery at the same business.
At 10:24 a.m. Jan. 2, dispatch received a 911 call from the business saying the store had been robbed at knife point, and that the suspect had fled the area, according to a prior news release from WPD.
The suspect has been identified as a white male, wearing a black leather jacket with a white stripe on both sleeves, blue jeans and blue and white shoes. The man’s face was covered by a black and white Jack Daniels bandana and sunglasses.
Officers searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect.
In that incident, officers determined that the suspect approached the clerk and displayed a knife. The suspect and clerk walked to the register and removed cash from the register. The clerk was then forced into a cooler before the robber fled.
The investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Warsaw Police at 574-372-9540.
