Warsaw Man Wanted In Tenn. For RapeA Warsaw man who was a fugitive from justice in Tennessee was arrested in Kosciusko County recently.
Sloan John White Jr., 35, of 920 Anchorage Road, lot 67, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:19 a.m. Nov. 9 on a rape charge from Tennessee. His bond was set at $50,000 surety only.
The warrant for White’s arrest was faxed to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office from Chattanooga, Tenn., according to court documents filed Thursday.
White is wanted by the state of Tennessee for the rape of a child in Hamilton County. The state is willing to extradite him.
Information on the rape charge was not available this morning.
On March 22 in Kosciusko Superior Court I, White pleaded guilty to one count of intimidation, a level 5 felony; with a charge of pointing a firearm, a level 6 felony, being dismissed. He was sentenced May 10 by Judge David Cates to three years in Kosciusko County Jail, suspended on probation. He also was given 329 days of credit for time served.
Cates said the standard rules of probation apply and White must pay the user fees, but his probation may be transferred to Tennessee. White was ordered not to have contact with his victim.
At his sentencing, White said he had a blood clot behind his knee in his main artery. Because of the clot, he had an excess buildup of fluid. He had to have a tube put in his legs to remove the excess fluid. He is on blood thinners and supplements and had a follow-up with a doctor.
White said he was originally from Tennessee and came to Kosciusko County to be with the victim of his intimidation charge. He said his plans were to get a job, save some money and move back to Tennessee, but that would take a few months.
At the time of his sentencing, he was living in Fort Wayne and was hoping to get his job back in Columbia City.
