A Warsaw man is facing domestic battery charges after he allegedly slammed a woman’s head into a wall.
Jeremy Lee Dawson, 34, of 519 W. Winona Ave., Apt. F, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:42 p.m. Monday and faces charges for domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a Level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Monday Warsaw police officers responded to a home in reference to a domestic disturbance after a woman called 911 and could be heard screaming in the background before the phone disconnected.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the woman who said Dawson battered her and that he is abusive to her every day.
The woman told police that Dawson became angry at her for not sitting next to him on the couch, then he began accusing her of cheating on him and calling her names. The woman said she decided to take her child into a bedroom to get away from Dawson, but he followed and continued to yell at her.
During the altercation, according to court papers, Dawson headbutted the woman, hit her in the head then shoved her head into a wall.
The child present took a piece of floor trim and tried to hit Dawson with it to get him off of the woman, court papers state.
When the woman told Dawson she was calling 911, according to the affidavit, Dawson began hitting himself in the face and told her that she’ll get in trouble too then.
Dawson then fled the residence, and police found him near a recycling center. Dawson told police he didn’t want to make a statement, but then went on to say “that he is a drug addict and every time he comes down, this s*** happens.”
