Warsaw Man Facing Child Molesting ChargesA Warsaw man is charged with child molesting after allegedly inappropriately touching a girl under the age of 14.
James M. Bauer, 67, of 640 S. Columbia St., Warsaw, is charged with child molesting, a Level 1 felony; and child molesting, a Level 4 felony.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:42 a.m. Sunday on a $50,250 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Saturday a Warsaw Police Department officer talked to a woman who said she is caring for a girl. The woman said on July 14 she dropped the girl off to be watched by another woman and Bauer while she was working. The woman picked the girl back up on the evening of July 15. Once home, the girl said she didn’t want to return to Bauer’s residence because she was inappropriately touched by Bauer.
The girl was taken to the Sexual Assault Center for a forensic examination. The forensic nurse examiner found abrasions and scratches to the girl’s groin area, according to court documents.
The girl was then taken to the Bill Lewis Center for Children for a forensic interview. The girl reported Bauer had touched her privates.
