A Warsaw man is facing strangulation and domestic battery charges after allegedly hitting a woman he was having a relationship with in her home.

Philip Mark Snodderly Jr., 41, of 1142 N. Shagbark Drive, Warsaw, was arrested and preliminarily booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:33 a.m. Dec. 28 for strangulation, domestic battery and public intoxication by alcohol/drugs.

Court documents filed Friday list charges against him as strangulation, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony.

He was released on his own recognizance with an initial hearing set for 8:15 a.m. Feb. 7.

On Dec. 28, Warsaw Police Department officer Clayton Rieder was dispatched to a Warsaw home in reference to a battery. He spoke with the victim, who had blood coming from her nose and had a swollen cheek.

The victim said Snodderly had been staying at her home.

She was asleep in her bedroom when Snodderly woke her up, according to court documents. He refused to leave the room and the victim used her foot to get him away from her. He began battering the victim, at one point hitting her in the nose and cheek, causing pain and injury.

The victim said Snodderly used his arm to squeeze her neck, causing pain and making it difficult for her to breath. He then left the residence.

The victim said she previously had a sexual relationship with Snodderly.

Indiana State Police trooper Ryan McNamara was able to find Snodderly and arrested him. Rieder then spoke with Snodderly, who smelled like alcohol and had redness on his knuckles. He was then taken to the jail.

A no contact order was entered on Friday.
