Warsaw Man Faces Battery, Strangulation Charges

A Warsaw man is facing charges for allegedly strangling his girlfriend then threatening her to “fix it” during a phone call from jail.

Timothy Christopher Bondy, 24, of 885 Pine Mills Road, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:46 a.m. Thursday and faces charges for domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a Level 6 felony; strangulation, a Level 6 felony; domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor; and intimidation, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Monday in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Thursday deputies with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in reference to domestic violence.

Upon arrival, police spoke with a woman who said she had been arguing with Bondy after he returned home intoxicated from his third-shift job. The woman said Bondy was breaking things throughout the house with a hammer, at times close to where a child was in a bouncy seat, according to court papers.

The woman said that Bondy then went into a bedroom, to which she believed he broke the hinges off the door, grabbed her by her upper arms and the throat and threw her to the ground. The woman called 911, but the conversation got disconnected, according to the affidavit. The woman said Bondy choked her to the point she lost consciousness and she only woke up on the floor prior to officers arriving.

Police observed red marks around the woman’s neck, court papers state, and when Bondy was asked about it, he told police he was breaking items in the home and that the situation got out of hand, but he denied anything further.

After being booked in KCJ, according to court papers, Bondy then made a phone call to the woman from jail and told her “she needed to fix it (referring to his arrest for battery), and she needed to do something really quick before he gets really angry.”

Bondy’s bond was set at $6,000.
