A Warsaw man was arrested on several drug charges after a police officer was invited into the home the man was staying in.
Anthony Wayne Miller, 44, of 5849 W. Channel Road, Warsaw, is charged with possession of a firearm by a serious felon, a level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony; possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:56 p.m. Monday on a $136,000 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Jan. 13 an officer from the Silver Lake Police Department was flagged down by a man. The man invited the officer into his residence and told the officer he was aware police were looking for Miller. Miller had been staying with the man for a short amount of time. The officer asked where Miller’s room was and the man opened the door. The officer noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view, according to court documents.
A Narcotics Enforcement Team 43 (NET 43) officer had knowledge Miller had a warrant out for his arrest. The officer obtained a search warrant and served it on Jan. 13.
Items found in Miller’s room included a 9mm handgun, a zip lock plastic bag containing a white powder later field tested presumptive positive for fentanyl, numerous new and used syringes, a small container that contained a small amount of a substance later field tested positive for methamphetamine, an undisclosed number of $100 counterfeit bills and 45.8 grams of what was believed to be marijuana.
Miller was previously convicted of dealing methamphetamine on Dec. 21, 2020, in Kosciusko County and on Oct. 24, 2022, in Wayne County.
