A Warsaw man was taken to jail for allegedly punching his girlfriend in the mouth while there was a protective order in place.

Brian Dewayne Redden, 36, of 1287 N. Penny Drive, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:36 p.m. Monday and faces charges of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor; invasion of privacy, a Class A misdemeanor; domestic battery with a prior conviction enhancement, a Level 6 felony; and sentence enhancement for invasion of privacy, a Level 6 felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Feb. 14 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Feb. 6, police responded to a gas station in the county in reference to a domestic battery. Upon arrival, an officer with the Mentone Police Department located the female victim who was holding ice to her lip and had blood on her hand.

The woman, according to court papers, told police that Redden was her ex-boyfriend and he picked her up from Marion and they drove to the gas station together. However, they got into an argument when they got to the gas station, and Redden allegedly attempted to pull her out of the vehicle and then struck her in the mouth. The woman told police, according to court papers, that she got out of the vehicle and Redden drove away.

Police discovered there was an active no contact order between Redden and the victim issued out of Marion County courts. According to court records, Redden was convicted of domestic battery in Kosciusko County in January 2018 and invasion of privacy in Wabash County on Jan. 31.

Redden’s bond was set at $10,250.
