Warsaw Community Public Library recently reached out to its insurance company to see what policies were available for its special events.
Library Director Ann Zydek told the Warsaw Library Board Monday she was surprised to find out for certain things, an underwriter would have to be contacted in order to find out what policies the library would need to cover special events.
She said she would let the outreach department know what she learned regarding insurance policies.
Board member Jill Beehler asked if doing a “Greyt Readers” program would possibly be covered. “Greyt Readers” is a program where greyhounds are brought into libraries and children read to them. Zydek said she will look into the possibility of doing that program and if insurance would cover that.
When talking with staff from the outreach department, Zydek said staff pointed out going mobile “has a real possibility” of becoming more popular. At some point, the library might look at getting some sort of vehicle in order to do mobile programs.
In regards to programs the library is currently offering, Zydek said as of 1 p.m. Saturday, 847 children signed up for the summer reading program. She said it appeared everyone was really getting into the summer reading program this year.
She also informed the Board, the last time library staff checked when the busiest times for the library are, 11 a.m. is still the busiest hour.
In other business, the Board learned Jen Hicks and Tim Keyes were reappointed to serve second terms, which will both go to June 30, 2026. Hicks was reappointed by the Kosciusko County Council and Keyes was reappointed by the Kosciusko County Commissioners.
