Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees on Monday heard updates on the building. The library is looking to get bids to fix the dry sprinkler system in the attic. Jeff Kumfer, from SRKM Architecture, has completed the plans and a notice for bidders has been publicized. Library Director Ann Zydek said they are looking to replace existing plans. Zydek said as far as working on the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) system, there are general contractors that specialize in that type of work and some of those contractors have been contacted. “Depending on how (the contractor who gets the bid) pull those pipes, they might make a hole somewhere,” Zydek said. If there ends up being a hole, Zydek said the library will have to look into tiles to cover it up. Zydek is looking to have the board look at the bids during the March meeting. One of the elevators that had been not working correctly is now back in order. The elevator did go down, Zydek said. The installer realized there was a part of the door that was put in reverse. That part of the door was put in correctly, and since that work has been performed, the elevator has been working fine. The library also looked at how busy it is. According to circulation numbers, 33,566 items were checked out or renewed in January. Zydek said the library is the third place in the community to gather and get information. If you’re an adult, the first two places would be home and work. If the person is a student, the first two places is home and school. The library will be closed on Monday for Presidents Day.
