The Warsaw Education Foundation (WEF) announced Courtney Sale has been named the new executive director of the organization, effective July 1.
Sale succeeds Erin Serafino, who resigned after over three years of dedicated service to the foundation, according to a news release from WEF.
“Courtney brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for education to this role,” said Tom Westerhof, vice president of the Warsaw Education Foundation Board of Directors. “We are confident that her leadership will build upon the strong foundation of our past and propel us into a new chapter of supporting the students and educators of Warsaw Community Schools.”
Sale comes to WEF from Warsaw First United Methodist Church, where she served in youth ministry. In this role, she established The Youth Network that is a collaboration of nine churches in Kosciusko County serving their youth groups together through unified monthly gatherings. She will complete her Masters of Ministry with a focus in Pastoral Care and Counseling through Indiana Wesleyan next month. The relational nature of her education and work in the past will be beneficial to the foundation.
She and her husband, Billy, attended Warsaw Community Schools. After college, the two moved to Texas, but ultimately returned to Warsaw to raise their family. As an adult, Courtney became involved with the area schools through their three children and volunteering with Junior Achievement at Leesburg, Washington, Eisenhower and Warsaw Christian over the years.
“I am excited for what the Warsaw Education Foundation has done in the past and the potential to do more for our teachers and our students in the future. Belonging to an organization that provides a positive impact for the future generations is inspiring! The work that has been done before I came aboard sets us up to be very impactful in the future. We are able to support a diversity of dreams and wishes for the classroom that fall outside the typical classroom budget through the grants provided by our foundation. Thanks to the generosity of those who value education and are willing to support our efforts financially we can do some really amazing things. We are blessed to live in a community that loves to give and support its own,” said Sale. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the board, our generous donors, and the dedicated educators of Warsaw Community Schools to continue the foundation’s important work of fostering innovation and excellence in our classrooms.”
