The Warsaw boys and girls swim teams dominated the competition Tuesday in a home tri-meet against Columbia City and Oregon-Davis.
Warsaw’s boys beat Oregon-Davis 148-15, while topping Columbia City 97-88.
The Lady Tigers won 146-21 over Oregon-Davis and 106-79 over Columbia City.
The Tigers’ foursome of Zach LaLonde, Nick Bazzoni, Alex Cook and Grant Knight placed first in 1:43.43 in the 200-yard medley relay, while Knight won the 200 IM (2:03.14) and 100 breaststroke (59.08)
Warsaw’s Nathan Taylor won the 100 butterfly (1:00.61), while Cook took first in the 50 freestyle (22.95).
Knight, Cook, Michael Ray and Bazzoni combined to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.98), while Ray, Taylor, Gabe Bowers and LaLonde teamed up to win the 400 freestyle relay (3;41.23).
Warsaw’s girls team of Carolina Pazos Fernandez, Delaney Wihebrink, Taylor Gunter and Olivia Herman won the 200 medley relay (2:00.44), while Wihebrink won the 200 IM in 2:20.24 and 100 backstroke (1:02.84).
Grayson Kilburn won the 1-meter diving competition with a total score of 160.35, while Gunter won the 100 butterfly (1:06.14) and Gracie Willig took first in the 500 freestyle (5:46.76).
The Lady Tigers’ 200 freestyle relay squad of Herman, Gunter, Lillian Boston and Wihebrink placed first (1:49.69), while Gunter, Leah Reinholt, Willig and Boston combined to win the 400 freestyle relay (4:05.25).
Columbia City won 145-15 over Oregon-Davis in the boys meet and 146-16 in the girls meet.
Briner Sets Record In Manchester Victory
NORTH MANCHESTER – Halle Briner broke her own record in the 50-yard freestyle as the Manchester boys and girls swim team swept Ellwood Monday in a home meet.
Briner swam the 50 freestyle in 25.27 seconds.
Manchester’s girls team won by a score of 95-42, while the boys team won 83-40.
The Lady Squires won 10 events, while the Squires took first in eight events.
Warriors Topped By Wilson, Eagles
COLUMBIA CITY – The Wawasee boys basketball team was outrebounded 27-9 in a 58-42 loss Tuesday at Columbia City.
Wawasee was outscored 18-6 in the second quarter and 17-8 in the third quarter, which proved to be the difference-makers in the game.
Ben Hoffert led the Warriors (1-6) with 14 points, while Mitchell Wilson had a game-high 29 points for the Eagles (2-6).
Wawasee will play Friday at Central Noble.

Whitko Outlasted By Bethany Christian
SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko girls basketball team was edged 61-56 in overtime in a home game against Bethany Christian.
Whitko led 30-28 at halftime before trailing by two points to head into the fourth quarter.
However, the Lady Wildcats outscored Bethany Christian in the fourth to head to the extra period, where they were bested 8-3.
“We continue to improve offensively,” said Whitko coach Rick Bragg. “But, I was very disappointed in our defensive effort. We did not play well at the defensive end of the floor, and that was the obvious difference in the game.”
Kayla Schipper led Whitko (3-11) with 15 points, while Sarah Hewitt and Emalee Duggins added 14 points, Gus Garr scored six points, and Ellie Snep had five points and 14 rebounds.
Snep is within 22 boards of the program’s career record.
Whitko will play Friday at Oregon-Davis.
Manchester Falls To Eastern
NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester wrestling team was topped 42-25 Tuesday in a home match against Eastern.
Manchester’s Elijah Burlingame won by a 3-2 decision at 120 pounds, while Delton Moore (170) won 17-7 by major decision.
Ashton Moore (195) and Bryce Kamphues (285) picked up pins for the Squires (12-3), while Trevor Dill (220) won by forfeit.
