Warsaw Community Public Library Awarded ARPA Grant

Posted
Warsaw Community Public Library has received a grant for $23,086.91 for digital content growth in response to community needs during COVID-19.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant was used to help build WCPL’s OverDrive electronic collections early in 2022.

Ann M. Zydek, library director, said, “The library e-collections are very popular with adults.”

Library readers have found this service beneficial, especially those who discovered the e-collections when they were unable to visit the library in person in the midst of the pandemic, according to a news release from WCPL. Library patrons are quickly learning to access the growing electronic resources through Libby, the library reading app from OverDrive. They like Overdrive’s downloadable books, audiobooks, magazines and other online resources, the release states. Ten titles are available for seven, 14 or 21 days.

This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the ARPA, administered by the Indiana State Library.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 35,000 museums. Its mission has been to inspire libraries and museums to advance innovation, lifelong learning and cultural and civic engagement. For the past 20 years, the institute’s grant making, policy development and research has helped libraries and museums deliver valuable services that make it possible for communities and individuals to thrive.
