Warsaw Community High School Homecoming Parade 2022

Warsaw Community High School Homecoming Parade 2022The theme for the 2022 Warsaw Community High School Homecoming Parade was “50 United States.”

The different club and sports floated were decorated with what the students best felt represented their particular state.

The WCHS boys tennis team chose Tennessee, or, as they spelled it, “Tennis-See.” They had Elvis Presley, a bear and banjo players.

Cheers went with Kansas, incorporating characters from “The Wizard of Oz,” among other symbols.

There also was Indiana, California, Illinois, Montana and several others.

The grand marshall was Barbara Beck. Beck recently retired from WCHS after working in the media center.

She helped countless students write papers, complete research and discover their love for reading, according to the Warsaw Community School Corporation website.

The parade, which started at approximately 5 p.m. Friday, went from the WCHS Performing Arts Center parking lot, proceeded to Union Street, right onto Market Street, left onto Indiana Street, left onto Main Street and onto Columbia Street. It ended at the corner of Columbia and Market streets.

Candy was thrown out along the way - which delighted the children as much, if not more so, than the “Baby Shark” float.

The homecoming football game at the WCHS Fisher Field was against Mishawaka at 7 p.m.

The homecoming court was scheduled to be announced at halftime, with all the contestants taking part in the parade.

The Warsaw Police Department provided traffic detail and led the parade, followed by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, the local National Guard, KCSO Special Operations, Lutheran EMS, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and the WCS Central Administration staff and a school bus.

It ended with local law enforcement.
