Not long ago, Mohammed Khan, an imam of the Islamic Center for Des Moines, Iowa, was asked to pray before the Iowa legislature at the request of Iowa State Representative Ako AbdulSamad. In his short prayer, Khan made a plea for "victory over those who disbelieve" and "protection from the Great Satan." The Great Satan, of course, being the United States and those who disbelieve, referring to all Americans.
The question that weighs heavy on my mind is how do we differentiate between the true Arab/Muslim-Americans verses the Arab/Muslims in our communities, the same individuals who are attending our schools and enjoying our parks? How do we know which group or groups can be trusted? How do we know where their allegiance begins and ends? I fear that the so-called peace-loving Muslims living in America today could very easily become our enemy because of their continued silence.
Is the Muslim religion peaceful? The predominately Christian population of Germany was peaceful, but under the dictatorial leadership of Hitler (who was also Christian), you either went along with the administration or you were eliminated. Islamic doctrine dictates that all nonbelievers must become Muslim or die. Christian followers will be heavily taxed and treated as outcasts. Today, the Muslim terrorists focus the world on the U.S. while killing all others who get in their way, conquering one nation at a time. Those who are peaceful Muslims will be no protection for us from the terrorist's Muslim leaders who are fanatically bent on world domination just as the peaceful Germans were of no protection to anyone from the Nazis.
America lost 3,000-plus innocent people on 9/11 in one day perpetrated by Muslim fanatics. America must win this war on terror or risk no longer being referred to as the premier country in the world today. If we lose, these attacks will not subside, but instead will increase. Remember the Muslim fanatics want us dead, not just quiet.
Many of our allies have given up the fight on terror and have turned to tolerance, appeasement and diplomacy as a solution, an effort that continues to fail. The world and many Americans have yet to understand that these Muslim fanatics are not going to give up their fight for world control. If America loses the war on terror, our way of life will vanish. If we lose, who will trade with us if the Muslims threaten them? If America can't stop terrorism, who will? These radical Muslims realize the benefits of winning this war.
Americans must recognize the costs of losing. Americans must unite and commit to a 100 percent effort to win this war. The 4,000-plus who have made the ultimate sacrifice have insured our freedom. America must never forget. There is a price that all of us must be willing to pay to remain free.
Special Forces NCO Stefan Mazak says it best, "There are only two types of warriors in this world. Those that serve tyrants and those that serve free men."
