NAPPANEE - Walter H. Lawmaster, 82, of 1954 Waterfall Drive, Nappanee, died Dec. 23, 2007, in his winter home in Naples, Fla.

He was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Atwood, to George and Signe Lawmaster. He married Mary Everdon, who died May 19, 2001. He married Barbara J. Henry, who survives.

A lifetime area resident, he was a Tippecanoe High School graduate and owned Lawmaster Roofing, Elkhart, for many years. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He trained and judged horseshows throughout the state. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars; a 46-year member of Lodge 798 Benevolent and Protection Order of Elks; and a member of Disabled American Veterans, Nappanee American Legion and Eaa Warbirds of America.

Also surviving are a daughter, Kimberly (and spouse Dennis) Bilinski, Bremen; a son, Jeffrey A. (and spouse Charity) Truhn, Florida; five grandchildren; a brother, Oliver (and spouse Ethel) Lawmaster, California; and two sisters, Arline Johnson, Indiana, and Evelyn Lawmaster, Naples, Fla. He was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Sam Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee, with military graveside rites by members of Nappanee American Legion.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
