Walk The Walk

Editor, Times-Union:
So often much to the candidate's shame
Much of their speeches are filled with blame.
Blame of those now in office, blame of those in the past,
Blame of those running against them, and on and on and then close - at last.
How much better it would be if those candidates could see
How their own upright living would speak to you and to me.
If they could just state what they stand for in language plain
And not look upon their adversary with such utter disdain.
Finding fault with others does not make a leader strong,
There are so many better ways to try and right a wrong.
I wonder what would happen if just this one time
The candidates for office would seek their selves to walk the line.
The line they lay down for their opposition to trod -
Candidates, I challenge you along this same path to plod.
Show the way you love others in the way that you walk
And this will impress we the voters far more than all of your talk.
