A Wabash man is facing drug charges after police responded to a report of a man slumped over and unresponsive in an SUV.

Samuel Gage Cole, 30, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:21 p.m. Sunday and faces charges for possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony; possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed May 14 in Kosciusko Circuit Court, on April 21 Silver Lake police officers responded to a report of a man slumped over in a white SUV in a business’ parking lot.

Upon arrival, police found Cole unresponsive, slumped forward in the driver’s seat and drool coming out of his mouth, court papers state. Cole became responsive when officers knocked on the window to get his attention.

Upon becoming responsive, according to the affidavit, Cole attempted to move something out of the view of the officers. Police located a cut soda can with a white substance on it, a syringe and a plastic bag. The items tested positive for heroin, according to court papers.

Cole’s bond was set at $5,250.
