Editor, Times-Union: After reading Joe Clingenpeel’s letter to the Times-Union on Oct. 7, I knew I needed to write one in support of Captain Rovenstine. I just recently was forced to leave the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department after 14 years due to an unexpected medical condition. Looking back after high school it was always my dream to work for the sheriff’s department. After a brief stint with the Mentone Police Department I was fortunate to be hired by the Sheriff’s Department. I had many ups and downs in my 14-year career at the sheriff’s department but it was the experience of my life. When my career came to an abrupt halt I couldn’t have asked for more support than I have gotten from the department. I want to publicly thank Captain Rovenstine for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my goals of working for the sheriff’s department. I’m a plain-spoken man but I would urge you to vote for Aaron Rovenstine for sheriff. He was a great sheriff before and would be again, but more importantly he is simply a good man and in these times we need all the good men we can get. Tom Craft Claypool
