Virginia R. McFarlandVirginia R. McFarland, 96, of Akron, passed surrounded by her family at 9:45 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2022, at her residence.
Virginia was born on Jan. 12, 1926, in Kewanna, to the late Foster and Naomi Leasure Enyart. She was married on March 27, 1948, in Kewanna, to Paul J. “Boone” McFarland; he preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2005.
She was a graduate of Kewanna High School in 1945. Virginia enjoyed taking care of people. She not only took care of her children and grandchildren, but she looked after both her mother and mother-in-law. She canned tomato juice and was excellent in the kitchen, especially preparing her macaroni and cheese. She was a devoted grandmother and supported her grandchildren in all their activities.
She is survived by her daughters: Marsha Kilgore, of Warsaw; and Claudia and husband Ed Errington, of Fort Wayne; a son, Michael and wife Pamela McFarland, of Akron; grandchildren: Amy and husband Rusty Zimpelman, of Mentone; Bethany and husband Michael How, of St. Charles, Ill.; and Ryan and Miriel McFarland, of Akron; and great-grandchildren: Bryce, Bronwyn, Isla, William, Audelline and Cormac Boone.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Boone; brother, Dean Enyart; infant granddaughter, Jeannette; and son-in-law, Michael Weirick.
The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, July 1 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Butch Troke officiating. The interment will take place in the Akron Cemetery, Akron, next to her husband. Visitation hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, July 1 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
