Violet R. Oest, 84, of Warsaw,  passed away at 1:45 p.m. Nov. 12, 2011, in Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

She was born July 23, 1927, in Blair, Wis., to Clarence and Clara Christiansen Knutson. On June 14, 1947, she married Walter H. Oest, who preceded her in death.

She lived in the Warsaw area for 50 years. She and her husband owned and operated Oest Marine & Garden, Warsaw. She was a member of an Independent Bible Church. She volunteered for Our Father’s House, Warsaw, for 14 years. She was very patriotic and took pride in the power to vote for her party.

Surviving are three sons: Eric (and spouse Marilyn) Oest, Mary Esther, Fla.; Fred (and spouse Leslie) Oest,   Hedgesville, W.Va.; and Kurt Oest (and companion Kathy), Hampton, Va.; two daughters, Roseann (and spouse Jim) Miller, Port Huron, Mich., and Peggy Woulard, Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers; two sisters; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Don Plank officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
