NAPPANEE – Authorities have identified the victim of Friday’s one-vehicle rollover crash southeast of Nappanee.
Jeremy A. Hartzell, 35, of Nappanee, was declared dead at the scene. Nicholas A. Pelc, 25, of Nappanee was taken to a hospital for unknown injuries, police said.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department public information officer Chris McKeand said Hartzell, the driver, lost control of his 2008 Suzuki and rolled it into a yard on the west side of North CR 900W, near West CR 700N, at 5:53 p.m. Friday.
The vehicle then struck a tree in the yard and sustained extensive damage. Hartzell was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead by Kosciusko County coroner Tony Ciriello. Hartzell’s obituary appears on page 3A of today’s Times-Union.
McKeand said the Kosciusko County Fatal Crash team continues its investigation of the incident. The team was assisted by the sheriff’s department, Etna Green Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and the Nappanee Police Department.
