As a disabled American, Marine Corps veteran, in the service, I received a bone fracture of the radius and ulna of my right arm. The radius was repaired by a pin, and the ulna was left to heal by itself.

Around 20 years later, as I got older, my arm began to bother me a lot with severe pain. I went to the V.A., and they informed me that the ulna had never healed and was still broken. X-rays were taken and I was sent to the V.A. in Indianapolis for possible repair.

The V.A. in Indianapolis advised against it due to my age, 46.

Last month, I went to the V.A. to obtain my X-rays through the Freedom of Information Act. They said they would run my request through the computer and contact me later. I just received a letter from the V.A. informing me that since my X-rays were 20 years old, they have been purged and destroyed.

My concern is not about myself. My concern is about our war veterans who are returning now. Will the wounded, when they get to be 40-45 years old, find that their X-rays have been purged and destroyed?
