NEW CASTLE — Verta Dobbs York Scroggins, 98, Winona Lake, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Grace Village Hospice, Winona Lake.
She was born June 12, 1919, in Monticello, Ky., the daughter of the late Silas and Polly Gregory Dobbs. She attended school in Kentucky and was a housewife, and was a member of Sound The Alarm Church.
Survivors include her children: the Rev. Ken (wife Bernice) York, Ron (wife Pat) York and Carolyn (husband Pete) Freeman; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, one grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Marcum Community Funeral Home, New Castle. The Rev. Ken York will officiate. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
