Verona Jean 'Skip' Gaskill

NAPPANEE - Verona Jean "Skip" Gaskill, 74, of 5775 W. CR 1300N, Nappanee, died at 9:17 p.m. June 15, 2007, in Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born March 19, 1933, in Bourbon, to Lawrence and Kathryn Dinkledein Heisler. On June 5, 1953, in North Manchester, she married Welcome "Duke" Gaskill, who died March 26, 2006.

A lifetime area resident, she was an Etna Green High School graduate; a seamstress; and a teller at Chiphone, Nappanee, for nine years. She was a member of North Main Street Mennonite Church and a member and past president of Nappanee American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Cathy Mullett, Warsaw, and Mrs. Doug (Sara) Hill, Carmel; a son, Clint Gaskill, Rocky Mount, N.C.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Johnson, Amarillo, Texas; and her mother, Kathryn Heisler, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by a son.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at North Main Street Mennonite Church with the Rev. Ruben Chupp officiating, assisted by Pastor Derrick Ramer. Burial will be in Sandridge Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
