Vernon Marks 'Bud' Waymire

AKRON - Vernon Marks "Bud" Waymire, 82, of 222 W. Walnut St., Akron, died at 11:35 p.m. Jan. 6, 2008, in Life Care Center of Rochester.

He was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Miami County, to Vern and Velma Marks Waymire. On Aug. 7, 1948, in Bad Nuheim, Germany, he married Martha E. Karl, who survives.

He was a carpenter for Miller and Sons, Silver Lake, and an Akron EMT. He was a 1944 Linlawn High School graduate and a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a Henry Township trustee and a member of the Akron Town Board, Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Also surviving are three sons, Kurt (and spouse Brenda) Waymire and Max (and spouse Patsy) Waymire, both of Akron, and Kerry (and wife Deb) Waymire, Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, Tom (and spouse Betti) Waymire, Ohio, and Don (and spouse Jeri) Waymire, Virginia; four sisters: Virginia Buuck, Fort Wayne; Janet Hammond and Karen (and spouse Scott) Cooper, both of Wabash; and Judy (and spouse Richard) Losher, Rich Valley; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a grandson and two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Rev. Karen Ottjes officiating. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery with military graveside rites.
