SYRACUSE — Vaughn W. Atchison Sr., 66, Ligonier, passed away at 1:49 p.m. Jan. 29, 2017, at Avalon Village Nursing Home, Ligonier. He was born May 11, 1950, in Springfield, Ohio, to Richard and Jane Eversole Atchison. He graduated in 1969 from Tecumseh High School in Donnelsville, Ohio, and was a United States Army veteran. He moved to Syracuse in 1973 from Springfield, Ohio. On May 12, 1973, in Pigeon Forge, Va., he married Kathy A. Page Huffenberger, who survives. He was formerly employed at Hart Housing, Nappanee, for six years; Forest River, Goshen; and was a semi driver for Snyder Trucking, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Atchison, Syracuse; a daughter, Tanisha Atchison, Goshen; two sons, Vaugh W. (spouse Birdie) Atchison Jr., Ligonier, and David Huffenberger, Cromwell; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; his father, Richard Atchison, Tampa, Fla.; a half sister, Tyra Coe, Springfield; and a half brother, Roger Coe, Thailand. He was preceded by his mother. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. No services are planned. Private family burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
