Variance Permit

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
While reading the Times-Union on April 26, on the front page I noticed Frauhiger Realty was granted a variance permit for indoor warehousing in a R-2 rated zone.
Funny about five to six months ago I applied for the same permit on two lots I own in town only to be denied.
I filled out the proper forms and notified the six neighbors involved. I also placed a notification in the paper, contacted Pacemaker Buildings in North Webster for construction, and hired an independent surveyor for the new survey to know the setback areas. I made drawings of the proposed site and went to the BZA meeting, only to be told no. Two of the neighbors came, one was for the construction and one was against. So the proposal was turned down.
During the discussion, one of the city officials said no one would build there due to the fact that it was too close to the railroad.
I just wanted to congratulate Mr. Frauhiger on obtaining the permit.
In closing, I would warn any small business developers to be careful on where you buy ground within the city limits.
I have a storage building and two lots for sale because I will probably be denied any further permits.
