Valley’s Potter Wins ‘Face Of Sportsmanship,’ Athlete Of The Week Awards For Oct. 18-23AKRON – Jaylin Potter wasn’t an offensive leader for Tippecanoe Valley Oct. 22 in the Vikings’ football win over South Bend Washington, but he did earn the IHSAA’s “Face of Sportsmanship” award, and for that Potter is also the Times-Union Athlete of the Week for Oct. 18-23.
Potter had three catches for 17 yards and a pair of carries for 14 yards in the Vikings’ 19-14 win over the Panthers in the opening round of Class 3A Sectional 26. According to the team’s Twitter feed, he won the IHSAA award for his positive leadership in the game at South Bend’s School Field.
Potter joins Jaydin Conley, Dakota Gaff and Jacob Eherenman as Athlete of the Week winners. The Viking trio won the award for the week of Sept. 16-21.
The Vikings (7-3) host Jimtown in a sectional semifinal at Smith-Bibler Memorial Field tonight.
