AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation moved forward with its building project at the high school when the School Board awarded bids for the project Tuesday.
On April 12, TVSC received 15 bids for 10 bid categories for the Tippecanoe Valley High School renovations and addition project. On April 21, the Board, from the recommendation of Superintendent Blaine Conley, rejected all bids for the project.
The project was rebid.
On Tuesday, Scott Rogers, project manager the Skillman Corporation, said bids were opened Oct. 11 for 14 bid categories. Thirteen bids were received for those categories.
Skillman reviewed the scope of work with each category and found all 13 apparent low bidders met the requirements.

With the Board’s approval, Rogers said Skillman will send notice to proceed to all the low bidders for the scope of work, start shop drawings, precure materials ahead of construction and draft up contracts.
The scope of the project includes the highest prioritized addition/renovation and upgraded areas of TVHS as developed through community input meetings, strategic facility planning and budgeting process, according to a news release from TVSC.
The construction project will include a new auditorium including student collaboration areas, pool renovation, exterior facade improvement, expanded agriculture classroom/labs, new and renovated locker rooms, new weight room and a multi-purpose room (multi-purpose/wrestling), the release states.
The work on the project is expected to begin April 3 with the projected substantial completion date of Aug. 30, 2024.
The Board also approved a motion to advertise for two public hearings at 6 p.m. Oct. 31 and Nov. 7 at the administration building. The purpose of the hearings is to allow public feedback regarding the proposed renovation project.
On Nov. 7, the Board will adopt a resolution to enter into a lease agreement to issue bonds to finance the project. The additional bond issuance will not increase the tax rate, Conley said.
