USPS Seeking Public Comment On Moving Milford P.O.

Posted
MILFORD — The U.S. Postal Service is proposing the relocation of the Milford Post Office to a yet-to-be-determined location as close as reasonably possible to the current site.

This relocation project would provide full continuity of service and would consist of procuring a suitable alternate location, preparing the new location for use as a post office then transitioning services to the new facility. The Postal Service will continue retail services at the current post office located at 126 S. Main Street, Milford, until the new Post Office is up and running, according to a press release from USPS.

If the move is approved, there would be no impact on letter carrier delivery to Milford residents and businesses. There also would be no change to post office box numbers or zip codes.

Public input on this relocation is welcome. Traditionally, the Postal Service would hold a community meeting to discuss this relocation, states the press release. However, with the pandemic restricting travel and public gatherings, written comments are requested for 30 days from the date of this posting. Please submit written comments to Michael “Mike” Caison, real estate specialist (Team Lead New Space), United States Postal Service, 475 L’Enfant Plaza, SW Room 6668, Washington, D.C. 20260-4201, or by e-mail at michael.d.caison@usps.gov.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
