Editor, Times-Union: I am writing concerning the usage of headlights during rain, snow, fog etc. I have lived here in Kosciusko County for a number of years and have observed the lack of headlight use during bad weather. I am sure we all forget from time to time to turn on our headlights especially during the day, but do you realize that just because you can see out your window does not mean everyone else can see you? Now this problem is not limited to just private citizens but our law enforcement and public vehicles as well. Folks, it’s simple just plain common sense: If it is raining or misting or foggy or snowing, turn on your headlights so you can be seen. And don’t think that just because you have automatic lights they will come on, most of the time the sensor only activates the lights when it is dark, not raining or inclement weather. I am not sure if Indiana has a law pertaining to this, but it should. I would challenge anyone to just count the number of vehicles driving without headlights on during inclement weather. Turn on your lights for safety! Rob Edling Claypool, via email
