Norfolk Southern’s rail replacement project is expected to reach Dogwood Drive in Warsaw today and could read Ranch Road as the project continues to head north.
The closing of Dogwood for six or more hours will leave residents on that street and LaVista Drive with no access out of the neighborhood, according to a news release from the city.
As a result, all residents on Dogwood and LaVista directly affected by this closure were to be notified by Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory on Sunday.
About 18 residences are affected by the closing, the city said.
In the event of an emergency during the closure, Norfolk Southern will be prepared to create emergency access over the crossing. Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory personnel will be stationed at the crossing, should any emergencies occur, the city said in the statement.
The city advised that any residents in the neighborhood who don’t feel comfortable remaining at home during the closure should make alternate arrangements.
Rail installation will likely begin affecting other Warsaw rail crossings by Tuesday or Wednesday, the city said.
The Dogwood closing was expected to be begin by mid-morning.
Norfolk Southern expects its “rail gang” to make it past the Ranch Road crossing on the city’s south side later today.
Motorists who use CR 200S, Dogwood Drive or Ranch Road crossings are asked to make alternate plans for today.
