I would like to comment on an article in the Jan. 24 issue of the Times-Union which Mitch Daniels said in quotes: "I am for low taxes." "Taxation is a deprivation of freedom." Two short paragraphs later he advocates raising taxes. You can't make stuff like this up.
We have been through the worst state government in the last two years in my lifetime. He takes dividing the state in half with daylight-saving time as an honor. Turning clocks back and forth every few months was dubious during colonial times and has no practical use in the modern world.
On a related issue, shortly after Mitch sold the toll road for a lifetime, he put up signs on all the state roads advertising his "Major Mistakes" policy. A few days before the Democrats took over the House of Representatives, he had the highway department go around taking them down. Could not the state employees be doing something more productive?
There is enough blame to go around besides Mitch Daniels, namely Brian Bosma, Jerry Torr, Dave Wolkins and Bill Ruppel.
To top it off they have created so much extra work for themselves, what with resetting all of their electronics every few months, boarding up license branches, and putting up for sale signs all over the state, they think it is time to vote themselves a pay raise. Unreal!
