Unionize

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Has both sides of the political machine gone completely off the deep end? Some of the stunts they pulled this last week made me think so.

What they did in Wisconsin should have been against the law and was no better here in the state of Indiana. I cringe to say it, but at least we had some Democrats smart enough to head for the hills.

Here's what I think a lot of this madness boils down to - once again, the all mighty dollar. See I think the old GOP boys know the Democrats rake in a mint from union dues and a portion of that goes toward the Democrat's future campaign funds. I'm thinking these old boys believe if you pass this union-busting law called right to work that a lot of folks will stop paying union dues, thus resulting in less money for the campaign funds.

I still think and believe none of your union dues should be given to either political party. These old boys in Washington are still as power hungry and looking for a free dollar as ever before.

I belong to a union and am proud of it, but I can't understand why it seems as the politicians on both sides are trying to take away and destroy our work force. We, as a county, need to find out how our elected officials stand on unions and stupid right to work laws.

I heard of some of the things that a company here in town did with some of their old timers such as letting some of them go that had 20-25 years of service and keeping temps in their place with no benefits. I'll tell you what people, that's a damn shame and should be against the law. I really hope the folks that are left there with any time at all consider trying to get a union set in place there as soon as possible. As the old saying goes - don't fight boys - Unionize!

Have a nice day.
