NEW PARIS - A Warsaw woman and a Pierceton man were involved in a two-vehicle accident in Elkhart County at 10:02 a.m. Thursday.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office crash news release, a 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup, driven by Philip Heinzman, 81, Pierceton, was stopped in traffic in the northbound lane of Ind. 15, south of CR 50, New Paris, when he was rear-ended by a 2019 Nissan Sentra PC while the Nissan’s driver - Maria Muniz, 27, Warsaw - took her eyes off the road to reach for a tissue.
Muniz was taken to Goshen Hospital by ambulance for complaint of knee pain.
Heinzman did not report any injuries.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, the report states.
The Nissan sustained damage to its front end, while the pickup had damage to the rear.
